A knowledge base article about Perceptive Content Upgrade to Version 25.1 - Possible Issues provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub - Knowledge Portal
Background
The Perceptive Content system will be upgraded to version 25.1. Because of this the system will not be available starting on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 5:00 pm. The system should be available again on Monday 23 as usual.
What’s Changing
Perceptive Content (Titan) This is the new web version of Perceptive Content and includes most of the Full Client functionality. https://imagine-content.berkeley.edu
Perceptive Content (the Full Desktop Client) end user experience will remain the same, however, this platform is going away in the next upgrade. Because of this, we are encouraging all of our users to use Titan instead
Possible issues
Perceptive Content upgrades are usually very stable and yield very few and localized issues. The following is a non-exhaustive list of potential issues that might come up after the upgrade and that might be seen when end users start using the system right after the upgrade on March 23.
*Uploading Documents Through Integrated Systems (i.e. CalHousing websites, Travel & Entertainment, etc.) Doesn’t Work*
Background:
Given that the Perceptive Production server and its respective integrations will be unreachable during the upgrade process, if users try to upload documents after 5pm on Friday, March 20 or before the upgrade is complete they might experience the following issues:
- Between 5 PM Friday and 9 AM Saturday users might get the spinning hourglass and eventually a "timed out" message
- After 9 AM Saturday they will get error messages until our team gets the integration working
Solution:
Please wait until the whole upgrade is complete. The Imagine team is aiming to have the integrations and uploads working sometime around 5 PM Saturday.
*The Full Desktop Client is not upgraded after March 23*
Background: The desktop client application should automatically update from 22.2 to 25.1 starting the morning of Monday, March 23. The update is triggered when launching the application, or it may happen in the background if the application is not launched. The update takes around 3 minutes to complete. If for some reason this automatic update does not work on your computer, it will need to be installed from BigFix.
Solution: If the client application continues to show version 22.2 at the login screen, follow these steps to manually get the update.
1. Launch BigFix and accept the offer for “Perceptive Content Client Uninstall”.
2. After that offer completes, there should be a new offer called “Perceptive Content Client - 25.1” that will show up in BigFix.
2.1 If it doesn’t show up right away, you may need to restart your computer and try again.
Accept this offer and it will be installed on your computer (can take quite a while to complete.
3. For immediate access to Perceptive while you are waiting for this desktop application, you can use the web client at https://imagine-content.berkeley.edu
*API Integrations not working*
Background: If someone tries to access or upload documents from a 3rd party application such as Reimbursement, BearBuy or CourseDog while the upgrade is in process, they will receive error messages.
This is most likely to happen between 5 PM Friday (3/20) and 3 PM Saturday (3/21). We expect all integrations to be working before Monday (3/23).
Solution: If someone is working late Friday or over the weekend and experiences errors with systems that integrate with Perceptive when trying to view or upload documents, they will need to try the action again after the upgrade is complete (on Monday 3/23).
