A knowledge base article about I have replaced my smartphone and need to reactivate it with Duo. What do I do? provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub - Knowledge Portal
If you have backup passcodes or a second 2-Step device enrolled, go to CalNet Account Manager (CAM) and use either for the 2-Step prompt. If you don't have backup passcodes or a second 2-Step device, but your new phone has the old phone's number, you can still use CAM to obtain new passcodes as follows:
At the 2-Step prompt, click on the green Enter a Passcode button, then use the blue Text me new codes button to request new passcodes to use with 2-Step. When you are signed in to CAM, select Manage 2-Step Verification and at the Device Control Panel, select Enter a Passcode. Use another passcode to authenticate with 2-Step again using the green buttons, and you'll be taken to the My Settings & Devices panel. Here you can find options to reactivate CalNet 2-Step for your new device using an existing phone number.
If you don’t have backup passcodes or a second 2-Step device, and your new phone has a different number, contact calnet2-stephelp@berkeley.edu for help. Make sure to save backup passcodes in case you ever need them again!
