How to use the Zoom Authentication Exceptions feature

Overview

UC Berkeley requires meeting authentication for Zoom meetings, which requires participants to sign in to Zoom before joining our meetings. By default, our meetings require participants to sign in to ‘Any Zoom’ account prior to joining, but hosts can further restrict their meetings to allow only UC Berkeley Zoom accounts.

There are cases where individuals may need to bypass the university’s authentication requirement. For these cases, there is a new feature available in Zoom which allows you to add individuals to an Authentication Exception list. This is useful for inviting guest lecturers or service providers, such as captioners or interpreters, without reducing the security of your meeting.

Key Features

Those on the Authentication Exception list will receive an email with a special meeting link (unique to them) that will allow them to join a UC Berkeley Zoom meeting without having a Zoom account.
