A knowledge base article about How to prevent your mass mailer from going to spam provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub - Knowledge Portal
To improve message deliverability and decrease the likelihood your message ends up in spam, you will need to set up domain authentication for any third-party mass mail vendors that you use. Make sure to choose a vendor that can send authenticated messages using DKIM as opposed to solely relying on SPF. DKIM is a key feature that allows the vendor to sign outbound emails sent on our organization’s behalf.
DKIM is the preferred approach for two reasons. First, we have hit our SPF record space limit for the berkeley.edu domain, and more importantly because using DKIM decreases risk to the organization since it enforces verification of the sender.
