| I want to keep a "just-in-case" backup… | Export course cartridge and save to a secure file storage platform provided by Berkeley IT (a course cartridge is viewable only in another LMS) | 2 minutes per course |

Instructors can copy course content such as assignments, modules, pages, and discussions from previous bCourses sites into a new course or Project Site. You can create a new course site if you’re teaching in an upcoming semester (or a new Project site if you’re not), and then choose what content you want to copy into the new site. Here are the instructions: How do I copy content from another Canvas course using the Course Import tool?
For longer-term storage, instructors can export an entire course as a "package" that can then be re-uploaded to bCourses or even uploaded to other learning management systems (LMS). Here are the instructions: How do I export a Canvas course?
You can change the file extension from ".imscc" to ".zip". This would allow you to unpackage the .zip file and view files and pages (only) offline. The course export does not include any student work or messages, or any content from an external tool that you may have enabled or connected with bCourses.
If you would like to save grades that you tracked in bCourses/Canvas, we recommend exporting the Gradebook (How do I export grades from the Gradebook?). Once data is downloaded, you can save it securely with one for the secure file storage platform provided by Berkeley IT.
To save student submissions, you can use the "Download Submissions" tool from each assignment, see: How do I download all student submissions for an assignment? (unfortunately, there is no way to download submissions from all assignments in bulk all at once, you must go to each assignment and download them).
