A knowledge base article about How do I add YouTube video links to My Media? provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub - Knowledge Portal
If you have existing media on YouTube that you would like to share, you can add the YouTube link to Kaltura in bCourses, as long as the YouTube video is public.
How to add YouTube video links to My Media
- Access My Media in the global navigation (vertical navigation bar on the left) of bCourses or MediaSpace.
- From the Add New dropdown menu, select YouTube.

- Paste the YouTube video URL in the textbox under "Video Page Link."
- Click the Preview button to preview the video. (You must complete this step to proceed. Note that if you receive a message at this point saying "Something went wrong. An error occurred, please try again later", this is likely to be the result of embeds being disabled by the YouTube video owner for this video. To confirm this, go to the video in YouTube and select Share and then select Embed: if you see the message "Video unavailable: Playback on other websites has been disabled by the video owner", you will not be able to add the YouTube video to Kaltura until the owner changes the appropriate setting on the YouTube video.)

- Review the video details, making any edits you'd like, other than Publishing Status. (You must wait until after you've Saved.)
- Click Save (at the bottom of the page).
- After clicking Save, the green bar below will appear at the bottom of your window.

You can now make additional changes, including changing Publishing Status, before leaving the page you are on.
The YouTube video is now available in your My Media.
