Help! A user can't create CalNet ID. What should we do?

Please keep in mind that your affiliation type could affect how soon and/or if you can claim a CalNet ID. Faculty, Staff, and Affiliates should note that it could take up to three days AFTER your record is entered in the campus HR system before you will be able to claim a CalNet account.

Visiting scholars and visiting student researchers are eligible for CalNet services, but must register with the VSPA office prior to obtaining an affiliate CalNet ID from their sponsoring department.

Undergraduate and Graduate students can create a CalNet ID upon invitation from the registrar, however only eligible UC Berkeley Extension students are able to claim CalNet IDs.

Calnet Sponsored Guest do not have CalNet IDs.

If you still require assistance and are not a UC Extension student, please open a ticket with CalNet by sending an email to calnet-admin@berkeley.edu so we may look into the issue. In order to verify ID, you will have to provide your photo ID over Zoom.
