Any file that is shared with you, even in a folder you own, is at risk of deletion when the owner leaves UC Berkeley, unless it is stored in a Shared Drive. Files stored in Shared Drives remain accessible to the group and are not affected by individual account changes.

Use advanced search to find files in Google Drive that may become inaccessible, such as content owned by expired accounts or alumni. Search and filter your files in Google Drive to find files by type, size, owner and last modified date. 

Finding Files at Risk

Follow the direct links and instructions below to find files at risk of being deleted and save any files you wish to keep.  

  1. Search for files marked “WILL BE DELETED” or "Alumni Owned" (direct links), or watch the video linked below to identify all Content at risk.
  2. Filter your results by Type of file, People sharing, and when it was Modified last, and Location.  
  3. Follow the instructions in Move Files to a Shared Drive.
