Essential Access Employee list within ServiceNow

Purpose
As of October 6, 2020, the approved list of people who have Essential Access to campus during COVID-19 has been moved from a Google Sheet to being stored in a new application within ServiceNow. This automated process will streamline business processes and improve data accuracy.

How does this affect me?
Currently this does not affect you directly. This is currently an upstream improvement that will allow more systems to acknowledge those with essential access. 


Where can I see my status and access my Approval Letter?
You can view your Approval letter in the Portal system at any time. You can access the Portal system here: Berkeley Regional Portal (https://portal.berkeley.edu/).

How can I get access to Campus?
If you would like to gain access to the campus during the COVID-19 restricted access period, please speak with your supervisor. They will assist you with the appropriate business process. Access requests currently go through campus leadership before being entered into ServiceNow.

A major improvement provided by this system is enhanced data integrity and more information about essential access users to allow you to better identify users in your system as having essential access.

How can I get access to this information?
Please submit a request to servicenow-support@berkeley.edu outlining: What you data do you need, why you need this data, and how you plan to use and store this data.  We will work with the data owner to receive approval for you to view this data.

How do you identify users to the consuming application?
We have identities in ServiceNow for each user. We match records to these identities to establish who has Essential Access. This allows us to return almost any information you would need to identify a user.

What security do we need to use this API?
You will need to be compliant with the security standards per [MSSEI](https://security.berkeley.edu/minimum-security-standards-electronic-information) and [Data Classification Standard](https://security.berkeley.edu/data-classification-standard)
