A knowledge base article about DouSign Signing Groups provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub - Knowledge Portal
Signing Groups enable any member of the group to open and act on envelope fields assigned to the Signing Group.
Use a Signing Group to send documents to a group of people, any one of whom can open and act on the document fields addressed to the group, even when signature and other fields are not specifically assigned to a person.
The primary benefit is that Signing Groups enable teams to share responsibility for envelope workflows, for example, covering for one another if someone is out of the office.
Your department uses DocuSign to process expense reimbursement forms and several people have the authority to approve the forms. Design your reimbursement workflow so that the form is automatically submitted to the Signing Group rather than an individual so that any person who is a member of the Signing Group can process the form. Just ensure that the Signing Group membership includes all of the people who have approval authority.
