A knowledge base article about Equipment Loan Policies provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub - Knowledge Portal
This article will deal with equipment loan policies and will inform about the policies that govern what, to whom, and for how long/under what conditions RTL loans out portable classroom equipment.
Loan policy
- We loan equipment, free of charge, to instructors and GSIs teaching classes with a valid Course Control Number (CCN). We also loan equipment, free of charge, to students instructor teaching DeCal classes (faculty sponsor required).
- Any equipment rental requests that include a set up, operation or labor, will be coordinated by Berkeley AV, based on staff availability.
Late policy for pick-up and return of equipment
- Reservations not picked up one day after scheduled pickup time will be cancelled without notice.
- Please return loaned equipment at the agreed upon return date and time, as RTL manages its reservation calendar based on our customers' checkout and return dates. Fees may be assessed for late equipment returns up to the full rental rate of the equipment.
Classroom Technology Supplies policy
- CTS provides VGA cables and the Mac Mini DisplayPort adapter in technology equipped classrooms and with our checkout projectors and carts. CTS lends out extension cords and cables with equipment loans when applicable. We do not loan out cables or adapters by themselves.
Key policy
- Instructors and GSIs may checkout a key for the semester to access classroom technology equipment. Keys are due back at the end of each semester. Fees may be assessed for late key returns up to the cost of replacement.
- Keys can be requested here, by selecting "Key for Classroom Equipment Access" under Equipment Requested.
Installed projector use policy
- Courses, events and student groups may use projectors installed in general assignment (GA) classrooms free of charge. The exceptions to this rule are Pimentel 1 and Wheeler Aud (150). Please see the rates page for info about these and other RTL spaces.
Student Groups
Student groups may use installed AV equipment in general assignment classrooms free of charge. To reserve a technology equipped classroom contact the Office of the Registrar.
