Changing between Mirror Mode and Extended Mode (MAC)

In this guide we will go over how to change between Mirror and Extended Mode in Macintosh/Apple computers.

  • Mirror Mode: Projected image is showing the exact same thing as the laptop screen
  • Extended Mode: Projector is served as a second monitor to the laptop, where presenter can control what is shown to the audience.
 

First, please follow the instructions to connect your laptop to the projection system in the classroom.

Basic Instruction

Click on the APPLE Logo at the top left hand corner of the screen and select System Preferences...

 

Once System Preferences window is opened, select Displays.

 

Once Displays window is opened, select the Arrangement tab located on the top center of the window.

 

Enable the Mirror Mode

Make sure the box that says "Mirror Displays" is checked.

After checking the box, you can go back to the Display tab and adjust resolution if needed.

 

Enable the Extended Mode

Make sure the box that says "Mirror Displays" is unchecked.

After checking the box, you can go back to the Display tab and adjust resolution if needed.
Please note that when using Extended mode there will be 2 Display windows, one for each monitor.
