How to Use Attestation for CalGroups and SPAs

Contents

Overview

Attestation allows group owners to implement timely reminders to review membership for CalGroups and SPA groups. Periodic reviews are a security best practice to ensure that only the necessary users have access to departmental resources. Any direct member of a group has the capability to edit these configurations.

Configuring Attestation Settings

To enable recertification reminders for your group, follow these steps within the CalGroups interface:

  1. Navigate to your specific group within CalGroups.
  2. Click the More Actions menu button in the top right.
  3. Select the Attestation option from the dropdown menu.
  4. Click the Edit attestation settings button.
  5. Change the dropdown selection to Yes, does have attestation directly assigned.
  6. Select your recertification period. The default is 180 days. You may select "No, use custom recertify days" to enter a specific value (e.g., 30 or 90 days).
  7. Mark the group as reviewed to officially start the attestation clock.
  8. Click the Save button.
