If you are using Zoom to verify someone's identity remotely, you must first make sure the Zoom settings are secure. The following configurations will make your Zoom account in line with ISO recommendations for privacy protections. Do not use a default Zoom settings to verify ID, and do not change these settings once they are implemented.
Sign in to berkeley.zoom.us/
Click on Settings, then:
- AI Companion tab
- ALL OFF – Do not enable separate (non-Zoom) AI Companions, either (such as Otter AI)
- General tab
- Data & Storage: United States only
- Other:
- Feedback to Zoom OFF
- Hide potentially sensitive information on mobile task switcher ON
- Meeting tab
- Security
- Waiting Room ON
- Who should go in the waiting room? EVERYONE
- Only authenticated meeting participants and webinar attendees can join meetings and webinars ON
- Meetings & Webinar Authentication Options: Any Zoom user (Default)
- Allow Zoom Rooms to become the host if they join before meeting host and other participants OFF
- Only authenticated users can join meetings from Web client ON
- Allow use of end-to-end encryption ON
- Default encryption type: Enhanced encryption
- Schedule Meeting
- Allow participants to join before host OFF
- In Meeting (Basic)
- Meeting chat ON
- Allow users to save chats from the meeting: Host and co-hosts
- Sound notification when someone joins or leaves ON
- Play sound for: Host and co-hosts only
