By default, the application is set to stay logged in until you manually log out. If you do not regularly log out of websites when you step away from your work, you should change these settings to log you off automatically after a specified period of inactivity.

Change Settings via the LastPass Website

  1. Go to lastpass.com.
  2. Log in with your username (email address) and your Main Password.
  3. Click the down arrow next to your email address in the upper-right corner of the screen and select Account Settings.
  4. Click on Show Advanced Settings at the bottom of the popup screen.
  5. Scroll down to Website Auto-Logoff and click the dropdown menu to select a time frame. We recommend selecting 15 minutes.
  6. Click Update.

Change Settings via the Browser Extension

  1. In your web browser toolbar, click the inactive (grey) icon.
  2. Log in with your username (email address) and Main Password.
  3. Click the active icon in your toolbar.
  4. Click Account Options.
  5. Click Extension Preferences.
  6. Check the box for Log out after this many minutes of inactivity and enter a value. We recommend entering 15.
  7. Click Save.
