How to connect to campus departmental drives from Mac computers

 

1: Connect to campus network via Ethernet, Eduroam, or GlobalProtect VPN

 

2: Select: Finder->Go(menu)->Connect to Server

 

3: Enter the path of the server, beginning with smb://

4: Press Connect

Confirm dialog box first time:

 

5: Enter password if prompted and add to Keychain:

6: Wait for connection:

If you get an error, double check the path in Connect to Server and confirm you're logged into VPN or on campus network

 

 

Once you've confirmed the path works, add it to the Favorite list:

 

 

There are multiple ways to facilitate easier connections in the future; creating a Desktop Alias file is one:

Open Finder Settings:

 

Tick the box for Connected Servers:

Right+Click on departmental share icon and select "Make Alias"

 

 

 

Go back to Finder Settings and uncheck "Connected Servers"
