What does the warning "Content import files cannot be downloaded after 500 days" mean?

Sometime around Fall 2017, Canvas added language to the Import Course Content page stating that "Content import files cannot be downloaded after 500 days".

Please do not be alarmed. This is related to how long Canvas export files are available for download. It is not related to your ability to import content from courses over 500 days old.

Note: We have asked Canvas to either remove or update this message so that it is easier to understand. We will update this article should they make improvements.
