CalNet ID Claim Eligibility and Timing
Your campus affiliation type affects how soon you can claim a CalNet ID and which services you are eligible to access. Please review the timelines below based on your role.
Eligibility by Affiliation
- Faculty, Staff, and Affiliates: It can take up to three days after your record is entered into the campus HR system (UCPath) before you are eligible to claim your account.
- Visiting Scholars and Student Researchers: You must register with the VSPA office before obtaining an affiliate CalNet ID from your sponsoring department.
- Undergraduate and Graduate Students: You can create a CalNet ID only after receiving an invitation from the Registrar.
- UC Berkeley Extension Students: Only certain eligible Extension students are able to claim CalNet IDs.
- CalNet Sponsored Guests: Guests do not have CalNet IDs and follow a different login process.
