How do I restrict viewing of Kaltura videos to a specific time frame?

A knowledge base article about How do I restrict viewing of Kaltura videos to a specific time frame? provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub - Knowledge Portal

If you wish to limit viewing of a Kaltura video in bCourses to a specific time frame, please follow the steps below.

Unfortunately, there is currently no way to edit availability dates in bulk. For example, if you set availability dates for all of your lectures but wish to make them all available again during RRR week, you will have to edit the availability dates for each of them one at a time.

Please note that availability dates apply to all Media Galleries that the video is published in and all instances of the video that have been embedded.

How to restrict viewing of videos to a specific time frame

  1. Set availability dates on your video following the instructions in the Kaltura Schedule Media guide. (You can access My Media in the global navigation—vertical navigation bar on the left—of bCourses or MediaSpace.)
  2.  If your video is already published, the availability dates will automatically be applied to all instances of your video and you do not need to take further action. If you have not published the video yet, embed the video anywhere on your course or upload it to the course Media Gallery.

Students will now only be able to view the video within the availability window that you defined in step 1.

NOTE: Please be aware that after the availability window has passed, students will not see the video in the Media Gallery, and they will see an "Access Denied" error where the video was embedded in context.
