A knowledge base article about How do I upload media to the Media Gallery of my bCourses site? provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub - Knowledge Portal
Use these steps to get media into the Media Gallery of any course site in which you have the role of Teacher, TA, or Designer. The Media Gallery is viewable by all members of the course site (everybody listed in the People tab); if you would prefer to upload media so that only you (and specific individuals you designate as collaborators) can view, you should follow the instructions in How do I upload existing media files to My Media?
- Go to the Media Gallery to which you want to upload Media
- If the Media Gallery has both a Playlists tab and a Media tab, select the Media tab.
- Click the Add Media button.

You’ll see your My Media slide into view.
- From the Add New menu, select Media Upload.

The Upload Media UI appears:

- Drag & drop your media file or click "Choose a file to upload" and locate the file on your hard disk.
The page changes to show the progress of the upload, and to provide fields where you can enter additional metadata and change settings for the media, if you wish. (All can also be changed at a later time, by editing the media, if need be.)
- If you make any changes in the metadata or settings, make sure to click Save.
- If you want to upload more media files, scroll down, and repeat steps 5 and 6.
- If you are done uploading, you can click “Go To Media Gallery” (to see the current state of the Media Gallery, although you may have to wait to see the Media you just uploaded) or "Go To Media" (where you may see the media is still being processed). You can also use your bCourses navigation to go anywhere else in bCourses.
Please note that media that you upload needs to be processed by Kaltura before it is playable; for video content, this can take one to two times the duration of the video.
