How do I share media in Kaltura within bCourses?

A knowledge base article about How do I share media in Kaltura within bCourses? provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub - Knowledge Portal

The simplest way to share your Kaltura media stored in your My Media (in the global navigation—vertical navigation bar on the far left—of bCourses) is to publish to the course site's Media Gallery. See How do I publish media from My Media to a Media Gallery in bCourses?

The Media Gallery, however, does not provide a way to get a link to a specific Media item in that Media Gallery. (You may think you have found a way to obtain the URL for a particular media item hosted in Kaltura within bCourses, but the URL will not work correctly for others even though it may appear to work for you.)

If you want a link to a specific media item (to put into your syllabus, for example), we suggest you do one of the following:

You can also add specific users as "Co-Viewers" using the Collaboration functionality. The media will become visible in their My Media repositories for viewing only once they are added. Visit How do I add collaborators or change the owner of my Kaltura media? for instructions.

Note: There is an alternate methodology for directly linking to Kaltura media when it is hosted in a Kaltura MediaSpace channel. This is not recommended for course applications, as it requires significant effort to limit the audience to your course. We generally do not recommend using this methodology, but if it sounds like it may be useful for your application more information can be found here - How to create a channel and add members in MediaSpace?
