December 2023
November 2023
- Kaltura rolled back the behavior introduced in October, where Zoom Alternative hosts were automatically given editing and publishing access to recordings copied to Kaltura. Thus, for recordings from Zoom meetings run 11/26/23 or later, Zoom alternative hosts don't (and won't) have automatic access to Kaltura recordings.
October 2023
- Zoom to Kaltura integration changed so that if a Zoom meeting had Alternative Host(s), in the resulting recording in Kaltura the Alternative Host(s) would become Kaltura Co-Editors and Co-Publishers.
September 2023
- Number of places to which a video can be published is now unlimited. (Previously the limit was 32, which included every Media Gallery publication as well as every place the video was embedded on a page, impacting users who have videos that they re-use in multiple places semester after semester.)
August 2023
- Kaltura fixed a bug introduced in June where, if using the My Media page via keyboard only, the entry titles were being skipped in the tab order.
July 2023
- (End of month) Kaltura fixed a bug introduced at beginning of month where Media Galleries that contained Playlists could not be accessed (users would see "Access Denied").
May 2023
- Kaltura released an improved UI for editing captions.
November 2022
- When using Express Capture in Mediaspace, can now capture the screen as well as camera.
October 2022
- Added new custom embed size of 608x428
September 2022
- Kaltura fixed bug where clicking on transcript caused the player to freeze for an unacceptable amount of time, making non-functional the use of the transcript to navigate the video. Now users can use the transcript to navigate within the video.
- Kaltura fixed bug where, in bCourses, adding collaborators by name didn't work consistently. Now, all who have ever interacted with Kaltura in bCourses should be be findable when video owner searches for them by name on the Collaboration tab in bCourses.
August 2022
- Switched Zoom to Kaltura integration so that it relied on UID, not email address, so users no longer had to worry about using an alternative email address in bCourses
June 2022
- Kaltura fixed a bug where the last Chapter added to a video wasn't properly indexed, so search on that Chapter failed
April 2022
- New buttons to allow users to skip forward 5 seconds and skip backward 5 seconds added to Media Gallery player and all embed players (though these options won't show if the width of the player is too narrow)
- New player choices available in Embed Settings for audio-only files, one for those with transcripts and one for those without transcripts
- For audio-only files: those with edit rights will now find a Download button in the upper right of the player window when in Edit mode.
March 2022
- Kaltura re-indexed all existing videos so no previously indexed videos should present as "Access Denied" to those who should have access
February 2022
- (End of month) Kaltura fixed underlying bug causing bad indexing (which was causing "Access Denied") so no future videos would be badly indexed.
January 2022
- Kaltura fixed a bug where, after doing a search (using magnifying glass) on a Media Page, clicking the timecode link in the search results resulted in "Access Denied"
December 2021

- Added 3x speed to Media Gallery player, as well as to embed players that provide playback speed option.
November 2021
- On 11/23, Kaltura completed re-ingesting recordings from Zoom. This includes recordings that failed to transfer on 10/31 & 11/1 (and thus had been missing from Kaltura). In addition, all recordings after the failure and before 11/23 were also re-ingested, and then duplicates were removed
- Kaltura fixed a bug where, after doing a search in Media Gallery, clicking the timecode link in the search results resulted in "Access Denied"
October 2021
- Those with a role of Lead TA or Owner in a bCourses site can now import from that site, embed media that's in the Media Gallery of that site, and publish via the Publish tab to that site.
- If the creation of machine captions appear to be "stuck" (i.e. they don't appear for a video within 4 times the duration of the video), the owner or co-editor of that video may be able to cancel and re-order the captions. (From the video, go to Actions> Caption & Enrich; if the status is listed as "Pending", the option to cancel and then order new captions will be available.)
September 2021
