Berkeley Security Software (BSS)

A service overview and catalog of Berkeley Security Software (BSS) provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub.

Description

Berkeley Security Software at UC Berkeley is a comprehensive solution for protecting University-owned devices. This service combines real-time threat detection (Endpoint Detection and Response software known as EDR) and systems management software (known as BigFix) to keep the Berkeley community secure and compliant with UC cybersecurity standards.

Note: This software is intended for use on university-owned computers. Berkeley Desktop (Berkeley IT-managed computers) come with the software installed.

If you have business needs that prevent the installation of EDR, or if your operating system won’t run EDR, you are required to request an exception.

Privacy Statement
Berkeley prioritizes privacy and data protection for individuals with EDR software installed on university-owned computers and servers. Campus EDR is not intended for installation on personally owned devices. See our detailed EDR Privacy and Process Documentation (requires CalNet login).
