Remote Access VPN

A service overview and catalog of Remote Access VPN provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub.

Description

The bSecure Remote Access VPN (Virtual Private Network) service is designed to allow CalNetID authenticated users to connect to the UC Berkeley network from outside of campus, as if they were on campus, and encrypts the information between the user and campus.

Available VPN Gateways

Split Tunnel (default): routes only required campus traffic through the VPN while allowing other traffic to use your local internet connection.
Full Tunnel (Library and Full Tunnel): routes all network traffic through the VPN for broader access to restricted resources.

- bIT recommends using only officially distributed VPN clients; unsupported clients are not tested, may stop working without notice, and may not receive troubleshooting or service accommodations.
- Users may choose to use an unsupported VPN client at their own risk, assuming full responsibility for support, security compliance, and ensuring no impact to other campus VPN users.
