Remote Access VPN

A service overview and catalog of Remote Access VPN provided by the UC Berkeley IT Service Hub.

Description

The bSecure Remote Access VPN (Virtual Private Network) service is designed to allow CalNetID authenticated users to connect to the UC Berkeley network from outside of campus, as if they were on campus, and encrypts the information between the user and campus.

Getting Started

  • Review instructions for dowloading, installing and configuring VPN Client Software based on type:
  • Third Party Clients
    • bIT recommends using only officially distributed VPN clients; unsupported clients are not tested, may stop working without notice, and may not receive troubleshooting or service accommodations.
    • Users may choose to use an unsupported VPN client at their own risk, assuming full responsibility for support, security compliance, and ensuring no impact to other campus VPN users.

This offering is provided as part of the Data Network Assessment. There are no additional charges to departments or users.

This service is rated for Protection Level P2,  Availability Level A3, and Recovery Level RL4 data.
